Marcus Paul James - “Waiting For”

A few months into the COVID-19 pandemic, Marcus gave me a call with an idea. He had written a song about the strange, isolating experience of being stuck inside and the realization that, even in bleak times, we can—and should—find ways to create. By the end of that conversation, we had a fully-formed concept for a music video that we could produce safely: a minimal crew of just two people and Marcus as the sole on-camera presence.

The video would take viewers inside the mind of someone wrestling with the monotony that had taken over daily life—a shared reality for so many of us. It’s a story of frustration giving way to inspiration, as the protagonist discovers that the power to create doesn’t come from external validation but from within.

I had the opportunity to film and edit the music video & a series of teasers for this song: Marcus Paul James’s single “Waiting For”.

As a lead up to the release of the single, the teasers were released weekly on MPJ’s social media platforms, each providing a sneak peek of the song and video.
